Google continues to enhance and expand its artificial intelligence named Gemini. Now, for those interested, the Gemini app can be downloaded, at least for Android devices. Unfortunately, Apple users are out of luck for the time being, as the app is not yet available in the American iPhone producer’s App Store. But what does this new free app offer for your Android smartphone?
Gemini aims to provide quick and intuitive help in various ways: you can enter text, control it via voice commands, search for images, and ask the app for assistance with everyday tasks. Google showcases an example of a flat tire, which you can photograph and then receive instructions from Gemini on how to fix the problem. These instructions can be displayed as YouTube videos, for instance.
The app is currently available only for Android. You can download Gemini directly from the Play Store and set it as your primary assistant. This allows you to interact with the AI in the same way you’re familiar with using Google Assistant: just say “Ok Google,” hold down the power button, or use a swipe gesture.
You can also learn how Gemini can respond to your WhatsApp messages. Although the app is not yet available for iOS, Google plans to integrate Gemini into the Google app in the coming weeks. Then, you will only need to press the Gemini button to access the AI features.
Gemini: An Everyday AI Companion?
According to Google, Gemini is more than just a virtual assistant. Google aims to make Gemini a versatile and interactive AI assistant. With chat functions and image processing, Gemini is set to become an essential tool to boost your productivity while allowing you to be creative. At least, that’s the theory. How well the app lives up to its promises will be revealed through user testing.
