Google is unveiling its initial update for Pixel phones in 2024, introducing innovative health features and AI tools. One notable addition is a functional thermometer, exclusively available for the recently launched Pixel 8 Pro. Equipped with a temperature sensor, the phone enables users to scan their foreheads, aiding in distinguishing between screen-induced headaches and actual fevers. The results can be seamlessly transmitted to Fitbit profiles and integrated with other health metrics.
Exploiting the capabilities of the Tensor G3 chip, Google introduces an AI-powered circle-to-search tool. Users can draw a circle around an item on the phone’s screen, prompting the AI to search for the highlighted image, text, or other elements. This feature holds promising potential for applications in spy and detective scenarios.
The update includes additional AI-related features, such as Photomoji, which transforms favorite photos into emojis or reactions. Magic Compose, akin to the Magic Editor tool for text, generates stylized, context-aware responses based on message content.
A Quick Share icon, previously teased, displays a list of nearby devices for content sharing. Google is actively working on extending this feature to Windows PCs.
Accompanying the software update is the introduction of a mint green color option for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices, offering a visually appealing aesthetic. The rollout of these new features commences today.
